I would definitely recommend packing light as there is a free laundry service and you leave your washing in the provided linen bag in the morning and it is back to you by the evening. The beds are super comfortable, and you have all the amenities needed e.g. The facilities have everything you need, they are tents but glorified having running water, shower and toilets which overlook the outside world. It was in the Mara triangle, so it was not far to go in the morning and evening for game drives. The tented camp is small and intimate, but exactly what we wanted and we are sure it will be one of the best places we will ever visit. We stayed at Kichwa Tembo for 4 nights on the first leg of our honeymoon and we couldn't have imagined going anywhere better. It makes for interesting photos for maybe one drive, but every evening of this is a bit much. This means the evening safaris are very smoggy and you can smell the heavy smoke. Also in June in the Mara Triangle they are doing a LOT of burning of the tall grasses to attract crossing later next month. For someone who has never been on safari, it may be best to be in a likeminded car so they can get the benefit of talking about impala groups and about elephant herds etc, while people on their 10th safari trip may have different interests and questions. Safari timings are flexible - we had very long drives, as well as shorter days.Ĭouple of downsides - it may be useful for KT to poll and figure out what guests may work in different cars. He knew the park well, was great at car placement for photography and did a great job juggling the different types of people in the car (we had photographers as well as 1st time safari goers all in the same vehicle). We had Maitai as our guide and he was great. For photographic opportunities, the no off roading is both a hinder and good as you will not get 20 cars in the background like you will in the greater Mara. There are car limits at sightings and very limited off roading. Located in the Mara Triangle, sightings here are plentiful and not as chaotic as in the greater Mara. Rooms were very comfortable and took you on a lovely walk through the camp depending on what room you were in (note - if you have mobility issues, let the camp know up front as our tent (36) was a good 10-15 min walk from the main area). Bar staff were great and made amazing cocktails. Staff are some of the friendliest (shoutout to Anne at mealtime who was amazing). Spent 4 nights here as part of two weeks in Kenya and was lovely.
